What Is A Website Builder And How Does It Help You

If you’ve ever wondered what a website builder is you need to know only this: they get your website running in less than 5 minutes!

Gone are the days of building websites with manual coding and crossed eyes. Today, you need only to decide your niche, pick your domain name, find a reputable hosting service…and build your website.

No “techie” experience required.

Really, it’s that simple. Join me as I walk you through a 5 minute website builder. And then decide if this is a builder that you can use for yourself and whether you want a site for business or a personal blog.

A Builder Builds…For You

What this means is that you simply click on the options provided for you as noted below and your host builds it for you; without you having to upload FTP (File Transfer Protocol), learn HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) or CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). You will note that these are not even covered in this article because, well, you don’t need to know them.

You will need to know your url (Uniform Resource Locator) as that is the address that will be used for your website on the web. It’s how people will find you and it should identify what your site is about.

The most important thing you need to know is that a good builder does all the hard work for you so that you can focus on building out your website. This article will assist further should you need more information about creating a website.

Done In Easy 3 Steps

  1. Select your website name. If you are using the free plan then it will be a sub-domain; in this case it will be “your website name”.siterubix.com. If you were using another platform, such as Blogger, it would be “your website name”.blogger.com.
  2. Enter your site name in the box. This will be displayed prominently when your site goes live. Most owners use the same name that is in the url.
  3. Select the theme you want to use. You should have access to multiple themes so that you can find the one that meets your needs and will give your website the look you want. In the case of our example here, a number of hand-picked, optimized WordPress themes have been preselected that are attractive, responsive (meaning that adapt to phones and tablets), and allow you to highlight your content (which is what brings your traffic).

At this point your service provider should now give you the following (make sure to save it):

  • A link to your new website
  • An Administration page
  • Your username and password

Next…GO CHECK OUT YOUR SITE…it’s live and on the internet.

Other Things You Want A Builder To Do

Besides building your website, your builder, and the hosting service, should provide some other essential features:
Manage your website behind the scenes.
Provide email management for your site.
Providing support should your site have any issues, including if you need to restore it from a back up, which happened with this site.

  1. Hi, Rick. This is a nice engaging very well written article, thanks for sharing, I enjoyed reading it.

    • Thank you. I’m so glad there are these website builders now. I likely wouldn’t have started online if I had to learn coding and such. So much easier now and they help so many of us get up and running with our own fantastic website.
